Essential Oils for Skin Care

Damask Rose and Jojoba Oil - Rose oil regulates hormone production, and is one of the best oils for shining, fresh, youthful skin. Rose is antiseptic, antispasmodic, antiviral, and antibacterial. Rose water and the dried flower of Rose damask are being used as folk medicine. Rose essential oil makes the scars from boils, acne and wounds fade away. This includes fading of stretch marks and surgery marks associated with pregnancy and delivery. Rose essential oil strengthens hair roots and tones and lifts skin. It contracts small blood vessels.


Lavender - Lavender is coined the "universal oil" because of its ability to treat almost any skin problem for any skin type. It is good for almost anything which includes calming, soothing, enhanced mental capability, energy, mood, etc. For skin it has the same soothing effects and heals burns, blemishes, acne, eczema, and psoriasis. In addition it promotes growth of new cells and balances the production of sebum to even skin tone.


Tea Tree Oil- Tea tree oil is another wonderful oil because it has great medicinal properties such as antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, antiseptic and analgesic. Therefore it has the amazing abililities to heal, clean, and sooth irritated, inflamed skin conditions. It is fast acting and can clear up acne, blemishes and pimples quickly.


Clary Sage Oil- Clary sage is helpful for skin problems that are caused by hormone imbalances such as acne, wrinkles and fine lines. Clary Sage has a similar structure to human hormones therefore it can be used to supplement for imbalanced hormones when exposed into the body. It also acts as an antibacterial and astringent to kill infections and cleanse wounds.


Patchouli Oil- Patchouli oil is very fragrant and is known to treat all types of skin conditions. It is helpful in healing rashes, scarring, cracked and inflamed skin, acne, dermatitis and eczema. It can be used as a moisturizer to tone and tighten the skin as well as removing wrinkles.


Lemon oil- Lemon oil and other citrus oils are great for clearing up acne fast by removing the excess sebum and oil on the face. It has great healing and restorative qualities especially when applied to skin care. lemon oil can brighten ones complexion by removing dead skin cells. However, it can cause skin discoloration when exposed to direct sunlight, therefore its imperative to stay out of the sun immediately after applying lemon oil.


Eucalyptus Oil- Eucalyptus oil is a strong oil that can be used as an antibacterial, antiseptic and anti parasitic. It cleanses the skin and has been known to reduce skin problems such as acne, eczema, and burns. It can clear blackheads and blemishes and reduce redness and irritation. Eucalyptus can smooth out uneven skin tones.




Normal Skin

Maintaining normal skin is done with oils such as lavender, lemon, tea tree.


Acne-Prone Skin

For skin that commonly breaks out in acne, tea tree oil combined in a face wash has had great results for many. Other oils that may help are lemongrass, lavender, peppermint, rosemary.


Dry Skin

Peppermint essential oil is said to help encourage your skin to produce more oil to help reduce dry skin. Other oils that help prevent and treat dry skin are lavender, rose, rosemary


Oily Skin

One way people have treated oily skin is to use lemon oil combined with a carrier oil. Use 5 drops of lemon oil in a mixture of a carrier oil 1 teaspoon such as almond oil or grapeseed oil. Let the oils stay on your face for a few minutes then wash them off. It is important to avoid sunlight for at least 24 hours when using any citrus oil to insure skin irritation does not occur. As an alternative to lemon, tea tree oil is also a great oil.



Effective and commonly used essential oils for wrinkles are Damask Rose, Clary Sage, Patchouli. Damask Rose essential oil helps protect existing cells and encourage new cell growth. The anti aging properties of Damask Rose are best for reducing wrinkles and tightening loose sagging skin.



Orange and lemon essential oils actually help reduce fat cells. Grapefruit essential oil is fat-dissolving and also detoxifies. Patchouli and rosemary help with fluid retention while cypress enhances circulation to support the elimination of fatty deposits. Another great benefit of using essential oils is that they not only help dissolve fat and cellulite but they help prevent stretch marks!


Never use the essential oils directly on the skin, they should always be diluted to 2% of solution. Essential oils are used by diluting them with a carrier oil like grapeseed oil, sweet almond or jojoba oil.
